Bongaigaon; A devastating fire broke out in North Boitamari’s Bashbari area on Friday, resulting in the tragic deaths of an elderly couple and the destruction of three shops. The fire originated in a local market and was exacerbated by the explosion of a gas cylinder.
The blaze, which began around noon, quickly spread throughout the market, consuming the tea shop where Dulal Bhattacharya and Kaushalya Bhattacharya resided. Despite the swift arrival of local firefighters, the flames proved too intense to control, and the couple lost their lives in the tragedy.
The fire also reduced three nearby shops to rubble, causing extensive damage. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with preliminary reports indicating that the gas cylinder explosion played a significant role in the rapid spread of the fire.
