Assam: COVID Patients to be Charged for Paying Cabins from Sept 1

GUWAHATI: As the number of COVID-19 infected patients continues to surge in Assam and after months of offering free treatment and hospital facilities, the state government has now informed that patients will have to pay for paying cabins in the state’s medical college hospitals.

In an order issued by the Assam Health and Family Welfare Department on 29th August, it has been mentioned that "any patient occupying a paying cabin in a medical college hospital will henceforth have to bear the room rent charges for the period of stay, as per usual norms."

The decision has been taken to prioritise expenditure on essential items during the pandemic and it comes into effect from 1st September, 2020
