Assam CM Announces New Dibrugarh Office to Address Regional Concerns; Focuses on Development and Indigenous Safety
DIBRUGARH; Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has revealed plans to establish a new Chief Minister’s office in Dibrugarh district. This announcement was made during a Facebook Live session on Saturday evening. In his address to the public, CM Sarma also confirmed that he would be visiting Dibrugarh on September 5.
"The new Chief Minister’s office in Dibrugarh will operate for at least four days each month, specifically catering to the needs of North and Upper Assam," Sarma stated.
Prior to his Dibrugarh visit, the Chief Minister will arrive in North Lakhimpur on the evening of September 3 for a cabinet meeting scheduled the next day. He emphasized that cabinet ministers will not use government funds for meals during this visit, opting instead to dine at the homes of BJP workers.
"The focus of our meeting will be on the district's development and the well-being of its residents," Sarma added.
The creation of the new office in Dibrugarh seems to be a strategic move in response to recent tensions in Upper Assam, where there has been unrest concerning the safety of indigenous communities. Local organizations have recently issued threats to minority communities, demanding they leave Upper Assam or face dire consequences.
Additionally, CM Sarma mentioned plans to introduce two new bills in the upcoming assembly session, addressing "Love Jihad" and safeguarding tribal lands within the state.
