The special guest of the meeting was Chinnmaye Praveen, National Chairperson of PRCI-YCC, the guest of honour was Avinash Ghawai, National Vice Chairman of PRCI-YCC and the speaker of the meeting was Arpana Choudhury popularly known as Luku. Rajashree Goswami was the moderator of the webinar, Subhankar Banerjee was the host and Saumen Paul, the co-host. Luku is an LGBT rights and Human Rights Activist advocating for rights of marginalized communities of Assam.
They are also the co-founder of Xobdo & Global Youth for Change Initiative. Xobdo is an organization working exclusively on gender and sexuality at Tezpur. It is the first initiative in Tezpur which works upholding the dignity of the LGBTQIA+ identifying people through the creation of dialogue and movement. This movement had begun in January, 2018 when a group of people came together to work on a pre-event for the Guwahati Queer Pride that they named QueerTessential at Tezpur University. Xobdo can be said to be the rebirth of QueerTessential. Luku was enlisted in Forbes India 30 under 30, 2017 for her work on advocating the rights of adivasi tea plantation workers.
In the meeting, they talked about the gender and sexuality. Luku gave detailed information about the gender and sexuality which many people were not aware of. They educated the participants, gave an overview of LGBTQIA+ and also shared their story and the problems and conditions they face in the society and in their home. They informed about the laws implemented for them and also the law and order that should be introduced by the government for their benefit. It was quite an informative and successful webinar. At the end the participants were given time to ask their queries which ended with a vote of thanks conveyed by the co-host, Saumen Paul.
