Bongaigaon District Administration launches pilot project 'DAK POKHILI'

BONGAIGAON: District Administration of Bongaigaon in association with District Elementary Education today launched a pilot project called 'Dak Pokhili' with the prime objective to  indulge the elementary school students from class V to Class VIII in letter writing activity which is expected to cater to develop their writing abilities/skills during this ongoing pandemic situation.Under this initiative, teachers will write letters to the students covering various topics and students too will send reply through letters and there will be arrangements for keeping those letters in the letter box called 'Dak Pokhili' in the school premises.

In its very first phase, the pilot project has considered to cover the class V to VIII standard students of five schools namely Barpathar ME School, Srimanta Sankardev LP School, Kalibari Vidyaniketan MV School, Netaji Hindi Visuality MV School and 63 No. Atugaon LP School. The students were given the first task under Project 'Dak Pokhili' as writing a simple letter indicating their parents'name, occupation, no.of family members, activities carried out during lockdown, their hobbies, their favourite subjects and the subjects they dislike etc .These letters have been collected by the teachers today from their doorsteps and feedback will be given to them by the immediate next Wednesday. This process will be followed for rest of the next letter writing assignments too and the topics of further such letter writing activity will be decided by the  concerned authorities in due course of the implementation of the  project.

A reference from the RTE Act 2009 will be well drawn here as it mandates that every child in India aged 6 to 14 years has the constitutional right to receive quality, inclusive and child friendly education and therefore focus has always been laid upon quality education at elementary level which is the foundation of learning among children.Though the District Elementary Education Department has been putting all effort to continue teaching and learning activities through different digital platforms like-Gyan  Brikha, Gyan Darshan, DIKSHA etc. but still reaching out the students without a technical gadget equipped with internet connection is still a distant dream. Therefore, with a hope to bridge the gap between teacher-students and swipe off the stagnation posing over the teaching- learning scenario preceded by the prevailing Pandemic crisis by regular motivation, encouragemnt, positive feedback, constructive interaction, exchange of information, thoughts & ideas, this innovative initiative has been launched by the District Administration , Bongaigaon under the District Elementary Education Department. This is a pilot project and depending upon its end results, it will be implemented in all the  schools across the district in the days to come. Further various such suitable activities will be taken up to cover the rest of the students below the age group of fifth standard too in due course of time.
