Bongaigaon DA initiates special safety measures for Golden Langurs.

BONGAIGAON: District Administration of Bongaigaon initiates special safety measures for Golden Langurs : All bare conductors of HT and LT electric lines to be converted into insulated AB cables at Kakoijana Reserve Forest and nearby areas

Kakoijana Reserve Forest is the home to more than 500 Golden Langurs and other rare endangered species encompassing 17.2016 sq. km.area constitute of rich bio-diversity, flora and fauna.These Golden Langurs at many times reported injured or dead due to electrocution by the bare conductor of HT ( 11 K.V) and LT(.440 K.V) electric lines.Taking this into serious consideration, initiatives have been taken from Bongaigaon District Administration under APDCL for conversion of bare conductor of HT( High Tension) and LT (Low Tension) electric line networks into insulated AB cables at Kakoijana, Rabhapara and Ujanpara area of Bongaigaon district for the safety of endangered species of Golden Langur available at these particular areas.

The execution of work is now under progress and approximately 60% of targeted works have already been completed and a portion of insulated cable of LT and HT lines has been charged recently. Accordingly rest of the left over works will be completed very  soon depending upon the weather conditions. 

The entire work will be a great achievement for the safety of endangered Golden Labour as the same will minimize the risks of accidents etc. occurred due to electrocution.Besides, Solar Street Lights will be installed in that areas soon.
