Bongaigaon District Administration launches 'Project Sampoorna' to tackle Moderate Acute Malnutrition among children

Bongaigaon District Administration launched Project Sampoorna today to tackle malnutrition with a vision of empowered mothers and  healthy Children.Deputy Commissioner Bongaigaon today formally launched the project in a programme held on Saturday at CDPO Office, Dangtol. 

Under this project, 2 numbers of 200 ml milk packets and 3 eggs will be distributed weekly to all total 2500 malnourished children of the district for next 1 month. Today distribution was done for first one week for all moderately and severely malnourished children (2170 and 246 numbers deletcted during the POSHAN Month in September 2020)  at 47 no.s of different venue across the district.

Further, 2 number of big and 4 number of small chicken distributed to 140 of mothers of malnourished children for their livelihood support and economic empowerment and gradually it will be distributed to rest of the  mothers. IEC material like growth chart, diet checklist distributed to mothers to spread awareness on nutrition. Buddy mothers are paired with mother of MAM children to involve community in management of malnutrition and sharing of best practices. The buddy mothers are mothers of healthy children and they had discussion with mothers of MAM children every Thursday during Anganwadi Worker Level Meeting.

On Saturday, inauguration programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner, Shivansh Awasthi, BDO Dangtol, and other officials and staff of Social Welfare department and so on.
